Building Community Solutions for Marine Litter in the Salish Sea Watershed (2017-2018)

Building Community Solutions for Marine Litter in the Salish Sea Watershed (2017-2018)

The goal of this project is to prevent and reduce land-based litter from entering the transboundary Salish Sea watershed environment by engaging local communities in identifying and implementing low-cost and low-tech solutions across the watershed. This work will increase information and awareness on marine litter, and will strengthen binational coordination between local and regional stakeholders. This project is funded by the Commission for Environmental Cooperation and is implemented in partnership with Environment and Climate Change Canada, the Mexican Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources and the United States Environmental Protection Agency. A companion project is taking place in the transboundary Tijuana River watershed.
